The ExxonMobil-led joint venture to harness gas reserves in Papua New Guinea’s Southern Highlands and Western Provinces is back in the news with JDA set to take a leading role in the recruitment of personnel to the project.

“ExxonMobil, together with joint venture partners Oil Search, AGL, Santos, Nippon Oil and MRDC (a PNG company representing the interests of traditional owners), plan to commercialise the Hides, Angore and Juha fields and the associated gas resources in the operating fields of Kutubu, Gobe and Moran”, said JDA director Neal Stewart

The gas will be treated at a gas conditioning plant at Hides and transported (via pipeline) to a 6.3 million tonne per annum LNG liquefaction plant and storage facility located twenty kilometres North-West of the nation’s capital, Port Moresby

“JDA’s PNG based business, JDA Wokman currently services some of the principal companies involved in this project and has geared the operation to expand its services across a broad spectrum of participating companies”, said Neal Stewart

JDA Wokman has an established presence in PNG. Its previous pipeline experience and global reputation will be major factors in contributing to a successful completion of the project.

The project, worth an estimated $30 billion to the local economy will create more than 3,000 jobs for Papua New Guineans, and at least 200 jobs for expatriates.
