The 2008 Beijing Olympics may be in full swing, but young athletes like Tamika Jones are already preparing for the opportunity to represent Australia in 2012.
Tamika’s father Paul Jones said, “Her interest and participation in gymnastics started around the end of November 2004”.
“Tamika’s specialty is the balance beam, followed closely by floor and vault”, Paul said. “She is currently a member of the QAS Development Squad – Team Future, training at the Chandler complex on Brisbane’s Southside”.
Tamika (10) is the daughter of Paul and Felyn Jones. Paul, a former JDA consultant, is currently working for Ok Tedi Mining Ltd in Papua New Guinea as a construction superintendent.
“Paul and Felyn have been part of the extended JDA family for many years, so we are enormously proud of Tamika’s achievements”, said John Davidson, Managing Director of John Davidson and Associates.
John Davidson and Associates Pty Ltd support the Active Bods program, an activities program being introduced into Queensland primary schools and child care centres by Gymnastics Queensland. The program’s primary focus is to reduce obesity in children.
